SET DRESSING
PROPS
&
My first masters is in a masters of arts in communication with an emphasis on gender and nonverbal communication. Although my autoethnographic and ethnographic research project focused on tattoos, I also researched artifactual nonverbal communication, which I believe is when I truly noticed how much I loved the art that we put on our bodies, or surround ourselves with, and how different artifacts can help communicate various characteristics of who we are.

I have experience finding props, set pieces and dressing sets for commercials, music videos, short films, television shows, plays and musicals.
My film background allows me to focus on tiny details that the camera can capture, as well as the big picture that we often focus on in film as well as theatre. I enjoy reading a script and coming up with props, and creating designs specific to individual characters, moments or aspects of the production. I believe that all actors in any type of production can benefit from thoughtful, detail oriented and character specific props.
Award Winning PSAs

I was the instructor, creative director and prop master for PSAs that my Production House students and I created for the Birmingham Rotary Club. I came up with the concept, helped write the script, and oversaw all creative decisions. The PSAs have been shown in over 5 countries and ran on cable TV in Birmingham. Both PSAs were entered into the student Telly Awards and both PSAs won two awards each. The students on crew consisted of students who just passed our intro production course a month earlier, to seniors who were about to graduate.

Music Video for
Signed Artist
During the Christmas season, my students and I created a music video for a signed country music artist, but the song was not a seasonal one. One of the locations we utilized paid for an interior designer to come in and dress their store for the holiday season.
This meant we had to take down, and set up their Christmas decorations and put everything back the way it was before we started, including rotating the white Christmas tree in the window so no one could see the yellow side of it.

Dying on the Pass
Student Film | Production Design
As production designer, I was responsible for the overall look of the film, set dressing, props, wardrobe etc. This film had a small budget, so several items from the film were sourced from my house, or rented, and a few were purchased.

Sister Act the Musical

From fake food, handmade director’s wands and fake cigarettes, custom designed magazines and police suspect folders to pulling standard, yet decade appropriate props, I enjoyed my experience as the Prop Designer for Sister Act the Musical.
